Makna kemerdekaan adalah ‘merdeka dari atau merdeka untuk’. 74 tahun lalu bangsa ini merdeka karena berjuang untuk ‘bebas dari penjajah dan bebas untuk mengatur kehidupan berbangsa dan bernegara’. Saat ini generasi muda khususnya harus berusaha untuk membebaskan diri dari musuh bersama, yaitu kemiskinan, kebodohan, korupsi, terorisme, kekerasan, hoax, seks bebas, dan narkoba. Generasi muda memaknai kemerdekaan dengan mengikuti upacara bendera, mencintai bangsa dan negara Indonesia, belajar menjadi generasi penerus yang tangguh, peduli, dan humanis serta menggunakan bahasa Indonesia dengan baik dan benar.
