Pada 1 Mei 2017 Dosen Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia ( Wenny Wijayanti dan Diani Febriasari) melakukan siaran di Radio LPP Programa 1 RRI Madiun pukul 20.00-21.00 dengan topik “Kesantunan Berbahasa sebagai Pilar Pendidikan Karakter”.

Bahasa merupakan pilar penting dalam pendidikan karakter. Bahasa menunjukkan sebuah bangsa. Martabat manusia dapat dilihat dari bahasa yang mereka gunakan. Dengan bahasa, orang dapat terlihat baik atau bahkan sebaliknya. Tujuan pendidikan nasional tidak hanya menambah wawasan peserta didiknya, lebih dari itu pendidikan berupaya mewujudkan manusia-manusia yang berkarakter dan memiliki budi pekerti.

Penerapan prinsip-prinsip kesantunan dalam tindak komunikasi sehari-hari dapat mencegah timbulnya gejolak sosial di masyarakat, yang pada akhirnya dapat menciptakan keharmonisan kehidupan berkeluarga, berteman, dan bermasyarakat.
